About Jo Thompson
Jo Thompson is one of the UK’s leading garden designers. Named ‘Best Rural Garden Designer’ (2011) and a Society of Garden Designers ‘Future Designer’ (2014) Jo is also listed by House and Garden magazine as one of the country’s top ten garden designers.
Jo’s garden designs are wide ranging; from residential family gardens, public spaces and country estates to tiny rooftop spaces, both in the UK and overseas. The gardens she creates are notable for the way in which they sit perfectly in their surroundings: rather than following fashions, Jo uses her understanding of place to ensure that the landscapes she creates work seamlessly in their location and work perfectly for the client. Her exquisite planting has led her to be considered one of the UK’s leading plantswomen.
Jo has been the recipient of three Gold and five Silver Gilt medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and in 2017 she won the People’s Choice award at the first RHS Chatsworth Flower Show. She is a member of the RHS Gardens Committee and Garden Advisor for RHS Rosemoor, as well as being a member of the RHS Show Gardens Selection Panel. Jo lectures both nationally and internationally, and also tutors at The London College of Garden Design. She is a Registered Member of the Society of Garden Designers.
