Jo Thompson is one of the UK’s leading garden designers. Named ‘Best Rural Garden Designer’ (2011) and a Society of Garden Designers ‘Future Designer’ (2014) Jo is also listed by House and Garden magazine as one of the country’s top ten garden designers.
Jo’s garden designs are wide ranging; from tiny rooftop spaces to residential family gardens, public spaces and country estates. The gardens she creates are notable for the way in which they sit perfectly in their surroundings: rather than following fashions, Jo uses her understanding of place to ensure that the landscapes she creates work seamlessly in their location and work perfectly for the client. Her exquisite planting has led her to be considered one of the UK’s leading plantswomen.
Whilst most of her work has been within the UK, and particularly in London, Kent and East Sussex where she is based, she has also designed projects in Russia and France, and has represented the UK at the Gardening World Cup in Japan.
Jo has been the recipient of three Gold and five Silver Gilt medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, is a member of the RHS Gardens Committee and Garden Advisor for RHS Rosemoor. She lectures both nationally and internationally, and also tutors at The London College of Garden Design. Jo is also a Registered Member of the Society of Garden Designers.
