Jewelled garden design

Location: Etchingham, East Sussex, UK

This area of of this nursery display garden was formerly an unused patch of grass sitting at the end of the new potager.

Moving through new pleached limes sitting in iris beds the visitor reaches geometric beds laid out to suggest the idea of stage scenery (the area towards the rear is used for temporary art exhibitions).

These beds were then filled with a mass of various grasses including Stipa tenuissima, Calamagrostis brachytricha and Panicum virgatum 'Heavy Metal', interplanted with perennials such as Salvia 'Caradonna' and Geum 'Princes Irene'
