For their newly renovated Knightsbridge home, the clients were looking for a strong modern design with sleek lines, yet were keen to include elements of a traditional English garden. The hard landscaping therefore includes stone paving and London Stock brick walls with oak trellis on top, and oak planters to soften the look and add variety of texture and colour.
Central to this London garden design project is a bespoke designed, granite clad, cantilevered BBQ with gantry lighting for extended use in the evening and throughout the year. The garden is kitted out with a special outdoor sound system with speakers positioned all around the garden.
The walls are therefore covered in a shamble of roses, such as Félicité-Perpétue and climbers such as; Clematis montana, Clematis alpina, trachelospermum and Wisteria sinensis ‘Alba’. Planting in the oak planters and borders includes box balls, Salvia × sylvestris ‘Rose Queen’, Cenolophium denudatum, and Erigeron karvinskianus.
Staggered beech hedges add structure and height to the garden, and crucially hide the cushion store and fold up tennis table.
