Thirty days to go, and a week until we get on site. These posts will get shorter and shorter as everything gears up to next Wednesday. I’ve had a good meeting with Tom Stogdon who is creating the sculpture which will sit at one end of the pond, visible from both seating areas. I love working with Tom: I don’t prescribe exactly what the piece is to be like, as I find that the work then becomes too stilted and doesn’t reflect the personality and range of the artist. I don’t want ‘constrained’ – I want something that is original and which speaks for itself as well as being part of a larger element. A year ago, we sat down and studied the plans and drawings of the garden, and from that meeting, Tom developed a fabulous idea which I’m looking forward to installing in a couple of weeks’ time.
