We’ve got the boulder and stone quantities confirmed, and I’m looking forward to Tuesday’s visit to the quarry with Scott Hadley, who is building the garden.  So now I’m just making sure that the beautiful trees we’ve tagged will actually fit in the space. I knew they did  fit when I first found them, but double-checking is the name of the game today.

Thinking back, we’ve had some beautiful trees in the past, and I want to make sure we continue to select perfect examples, yet also having a change, in order to give the show visitor new ideas. We’ve used multi-stemmed Betula pendula,  eye-catching multi-stemmed Prunus serrula, with an exquisite  bark polished to mahogany,  a lovely group of Betula albosinensis ‘Fascination’ in 2012, with its fabulous bark of chalky-apricot, and, in 2014,  multi-stemmed Betula utilis var. jacquemontii. And in 2013 we had a tree which seemed to ‘watch’ us as we planted……
