In the new normal, a welcoming garden or outdoor space is vital, even in midwinter. At the best of times, greenery and fresh air are essential for well-being and, well, our sanity – but especially so if we have months of minimal or non-existent socialising ahead of us.

Luckily, it’s easier than you might think to create a warm and welcoming space out of even the barest outdoor plot that will delight people of all ages. We shared our tips for creating a “bubble-friendly” garden in winter, using outdoor fireplaces, furniture, plants and twinkly lights.
