Exquisite bulb planting design
As the snow settles in for a while, I’m always amazed by the first of those tiny little bulbs which withstand what is frankly an icy battering in January and February. The snowdrops soldier on, for instance, whilst the delicate Iris reticulata remain with their buds tightly furled – we know we are going to see them, but they’ll let us know when they’re ready.
One of my favourite times of year is when the bulb catalogues arrive and I spend hours working on combinations which only I can picture in my mind, but which the client needs to be happy with. Accompanying me on my flights of fancy, however, is what our trusting clients do – thank goodness for that investment of faith and loyalty.
